I woke up with a lot of adrenaline running through my veins. I was instantly awake and all of a sudden I knew everything. It was like all of my past lives came back to me in an instant. I looked around, everything was white and I felt wind coming from underneath me. Then, the clouds broke and I was falling to the surface of my home planet. This, strangely didn’t phase me. It was like something inside me knew that this was normal. I looked down and saw all of my own friends waiting for me. When I finally landed I hugged them so perfectly that my back lied flat with my home—world, Sirtet. I was busy talking to my friends and how long they have been waiting. They had been there for 5 seconds so I was fairly new to the party. Then, before I knew anything, I was covered in darkness, for someone else, bigger than myself, landed on top of me in a way that blocked all previous light. This was the first indicator that my life was almost up. I continued to stay put, hugging my friends, then all of a sudden, my physical body was gone, all of my cubes just disappeared. My mental consciousness was then transported into my afterlife, otherwise known as, “NEXT” after some time, I was then transported to back to my physical body in the clouds. But this time was different, this time my body was longer and thinner. Not only that but I was immediately taken out of the clouds. There, in the “HOLD” box, the other half of me spoke, “I hate it here” he said ominously. I replied with, “What is this place?” He then explained that in newer models of my world they have started putting in a purgatory zone. This was supposed to be there so we could form up better. I stayed in there for what seemed like an eternity. It was actually only 15 minutes in the HOLD space with the bitter half of me. Suddenly I was back in the white space.

One Flew Over the Cuckoo’s Nest
I have been doing quizzes and assignments over the book written by Ken Kesey, One Flew Over the Cuckoo’s Nest. Now, I actually haven’t read any of the book but I have a pretty good idea pf what is happening in the book. I enjoy most of the book so far. Despite some of the messed up things that occur in the book such as Nurse Ratched lobotomizing or declaring her patients Chronic when they are fine. I believe that the messed up things are put there on purpose and have a real world reference. The whole book is a metaphor for one’s life. I believe that the asylum is one’s daily life. It is oppressed by those who pull the strings, be that a parent, landlord, boss, etc…. The whole idea is to escape your old life into a better world as they try to do in the book. When Bromden watches a dog from a window in his room the true meaning is the character is looking at what the good life is but he knows that he can’t get there right now. This is a struggle for most people’s lives, as they are trapped by bills, parents, a job, etc… and can’t ever get to the life they want and most end up like Cheswick before a turn ever takes place. The only thing I’d have to criticize is the authors underlying racism and sexism in some parts of the book.
Mental Hospital
The air was stale and smelled of prescription pills. When they finally let me out of my room I walked to the ‘public’ space to socialize with the other loonies. I sat down at one of the benches to think about why I’m in here. Some zombie was sitting next to me and he started rambling about himself “Some of us aren’t crazy, Billy, for instance, was arrested for drug charges and pleaded insane because he had too many enemies in prison. Billy is actually a pretty mellow person after his withdrawals stopped. Although they keep all of us sedated with a variety of pills so none of us become sober enough to actually think for ourselves. I used to be an addict who my ex-wife tried to control but failed. I used to hold up pharmacies and take all the pills to feel anything; as a result, pills no longer have the same effect on me. So I can think when the doctors shove pills down my throat every three hours. It all started for me when doctors prescribed me Vicodin for a car crash I had when I was 23. Before that I was a 4.0 GPA and top of my class. I didn’t need the pills but I took them anyway because I didn’t asses the consequences. After I ran out of the bottle I needed more, I started getting into some sketchy shit, flipping drugs, taking counterfeit opiates, and eventually, robbing pharmacies. When my wife told me to stop I mumbled no and she left and called the cops. Or that’s what the lawyer told me in court I have no memory of this event. Since then I’ve wanted to be clean but the doctors said I was too insane for prison and sent me here. I wish the doctors never prescribed me those pills for the crash, now, despite my desire to quit, I can’t because the doctors keep forcing them down my throat. I’m now 38 and i fear my whole life is ruined.” he said. I replied with, “Damn, that’s rough” He looked over, confused, as if he was never talking to me in the first place. He then stood up, walked away, and I haven’t seen him here since that first day in the loonie bin.
My Favorite Pieces by Thebe
Of all of the good writing pieces that Thebe Kgositsile my top two favorite are in his debut album, Doris, which released in 2013. They are Knight and Sunday. I like this piece because I personally relate to some of the things he is saying on this song. When he says “And loving you is a little different, I don’t like you a lot” granted I don’t smoke, “pot” but I have just had feelings for someone die very quickly for no particular reason. And I do like the rhyme scheme, because I feel like every line is too much but you need some rhyming to make a good poem. I also enjoy the things about his fucked up relationship with his lover which I can relate too on a lesser level. Earl operates in extremes and people like his music because they have been through something similar but not as bad, and it is human nature to take contentment in knowing that someone else’s life is more messed up than yours.
I like Knight from Doris by Earl Sweatshirt because most of his music is about how messed up his life is. But in Knight Earl talks about how he is making do with his circumstances. He’s talking about how his life is messed up but it doesn’t affect him as much as it used to and he is learning how to deal with it without resorting to drugs. I enjoy when someone that is addicted to drugs makes strides to get better, especially in Thebe’s case because he has been through a lot in a short period of time and hasn’t given up. It also gives hope to those out there who have been through a lot and are dependent on drugs to get them through their struggles.
My third favorite piece is on his second album, I don’t like shit, I don’t go outside, it is called AM // Radio. I like AM // Radio because he talks about his relapse, this piece, unlike others from his earlier album Doris, shine a light on how messed up he is when he does drugs. This song is particularly good because he writes about his past. Thebe’s drug usage is a direct result of his past and his addiction to opiates and alcohol. In this piece he writes about his past and how the failures of his parents left a permanent scar on his ability to function properly.
Worst Blog this nine weeks.
My worst blog was the blog #0 becuase it was short and half–assed. This was it:
Today I was supposed to find an author to model my future work on, alas due to time I do not have enough time to do substantial research on an author and get this one done so I figured I could figure it out later, I’m either going to study the art of being an MC or MF or I’m going to study plays and my authors I’m thinking about right now are Aeschylus, MF Doom, or Earl Sweatshirt. So I have some thinking to do but I already listen to Doom and Earl so I feel like studying them would be easier than trying to dig up the original works of Aeschylus, who lived in ancient Greece and is the father of tragedy plays.
Then I wrote all this:
I ended up chosing Earl Sweatshirt because his writing is very different from most modern rappers. Earl Sweatshirt writes unlike other rappers becuause he has had very different expericences growing up. He struggles with addiction an depression and sees drugs as something that he should stop. He is an alternative rapper which I enjoy becuase the majoirty doesn’t write about anything impactful. Earl writes about his life and what he has been through and how he deals with it. He talks about his problems and feelings in his songs which in my opinion is more meaningful than talking about tripping on Shrooms or something like that.
Earl Sweatshirt is 25 years old and was born in Chicago, his real name is Thebe Neruda Kgositsile and he was sent to Samoa for being a hellraiser at home, this happened just as his rap group, Odd Future, was becoming popular. At the time Thebe was 16. He wasn’t ready to come back until he was clean becuase he didn’t want to make music like he used too. In 2013 he dropped his first album under the name Earl Sweatshirt called Doris. Then he relapsed and went back to his misanthrope, addict state and made I don’t like shit, I don’t go outside in 2015. After that he got back on the mend and started making strides to be healthier. In late 2018 he dropped his latest album called Some Rap Songs, which was about how his problems don’t define him, and where he has been over the last few years. Recently Thebe is now leaving behind Earl and fixing the problems he has been struggling with for a long time. He now goes outside a lot and hangs out with friends often; however he is staying out of the public image becuase he wants to leave Earl Sweatshirt and all the name stood for behind. The thing that I like about Thebe’s songs so much is that all of his life and feelings are in his music.
And now my worst blog isn’t so bad.
Acting Classes
Today we had to act out a scene from the book we’re reading for school. For the sake of me not wanting to spell out the book I’ll call it REU. In the book REU two characters come across a totally black spaceship, for this prop I simply cut out black butcher paper to vaguely resemble a spaceship. For a towel for Ford we used my hammock. I played Marvin because I’m very tired right now so naturally it was easier to sound depressed. I understand why Marvin is depressed, he always gets used and no one notices him when he’s gone, although I did not gain any insight because I was only playing him for a mere 2 minutes. The other members of my group didn’t try to act very hard so it was difficult to get things running smoothly. It is hard to be funny with things you don’t write or think of, because the delivery is not the same as the person who wrote it.

Aliens
TETRIS PEOPLE
Pronounced Teeet-ris
The Tetris people are perhaps the most intelligent being to have ever been created. They are formed from the particles in their atmosphere that used to be other Tetris people, their entire life is extremely short as once they complete a perfect line in their world they evaporate into the same particles that made them, allowing for other formations to occur. Although they spend their whole life wanting to complete a line, as that is their purpose for life. They happen to contain all of the knowledge of their former people, making them extremely smart they live their whole life falling from the sky of which they were born and trying to complete lines. Their retaining of past lives is good for anyone daring enough to try to come into contact with them, for when you get the reclusive race to speak they can tell you everything from what happened to Messier 82 to the creation of the universe. They are such an ancient and old species that unfortunately they have no desire to do anything but die for they feel as death is the only release to their never ending cycle of falling from the sky and completing lines. Although some have hypothesized that if they were to build up to the sky without completing a line they could possibly end the cycle no one has dared to tell that to the Tetris people because they are a very proud people, mostly due to their ancient and mysterious lives. There are many different types of the Tetris kind, for an ancient people they are surprisingly diverse, for they come in seven different colors and seven different sizes. Some have hypothesised that the colors and shapes form similar to how planets and systems are formed in outer space, this has made the tetris people key for observation as the more we study them the better we can find out where we came from. Fortunately upon the studying of these creatures and with the first interactions scientists have debunked the Handkerchief religion as when the scientists asked the Tetris people if it was right they laughed as they were falling, fell into their line and disappeared before any further questions could be asked. They have the most smooth functioning government that has ever been documented; however we have no idea how it works, but they have a zero percent crime rate, their economy is steady, and all of them share very similar political views, as they are all made up of the same ancestors. Since they have no desire to explore the universe they don’t build spaceships or explore anything. There was one case in which humans had an interaction. While Earth still existed and one human was offworld, her name was Trillian, she was traveling with the president Zaphod Beeblebox who randomly came across the world. She went out to explore only to almost get crushed when one of the blocks moved itself to avoid crushing her entirely, at that point she had messed up their line so the blocks were intrigued and started talking to her. She perhaps got more information from them than the entire scientist crew that visits every couple centuries. Unfortunately there was a system malfunction in their ship while they flied away that caused Trillian and Zaphod’s memory to get erased.
A New Style
Last semester I picked comedy, and while it was pretty fun to do, it was very hard. So this time my group is choosing to do Haikus. Also with comedy I really feel like there is not a lot of room to delve in. Sure, you could tend to focus on making a certain type of comedy but the problem with that is it is very hard to be specific and relate to a lot of people. It is also easier to write about a lot of things comedicly. But Haikus are a difficult but impressive to do anyway and there is a lot of room to grow. As you can go into specific types of haikus which change the amount of syllables per line. I may end up doing something else but haikus seem like a fun thing to write.
What I don’t know
Legalization
There has been a lot of talk about Legalizing weed in America, I mean Canada did it. So the pressure is on for us to do it, I mean we have to be better than Canada, I mean ever since we were colonies we had the French and Indian war, hatred for them is bred into our countries, but hey somehow we’re allies, despite the big mans words about NAFTA. But anyways they did it, Colorado did it, and most of America is like, “What the Fuck America, where is my Weed, I want Weed.” Since Colorado did it then most modern states, wait before I say that is there anyone in here with ties to Idaho, South Dakota, Nebraska, or Kansas? Those states have made no progress to legalize weed by any means, yes, only 4 states have done nothing. I would have thought that Texas would be one of the last places to legalize weed in any way, but hey y’all can get a medicinal card if you have “Intractable epilepsy” whatever the fuck that means, have you ever met someone with “intractable epilepsy” me neither, I don’t know what that is but everything about it sounds awful. On top of that Texas thought it was so bad that they would give them, only them, Weed. So if you have it I’m sorry but hey on the upside they are the only ones who get Weed in Texas. The rest of us have to stick to CBD. I don’t know exactly what CBD is but supposedly it makes you feel relaxed, I’ve known multiple people that have tried it and they told me nothing happened. If that’s true Texas is just robbing you of your money, thats the real truth here. Did you know a majority of Americans have smoked weed, that was shocking for me. Especially since it is still illegal in most states, and I guarantee most people probably did it in college, I’m looking at you mom and dad, is there something I should have known? For the most part anyways since these states have legalized weed shit hasn’t gone to hell, which is what anti-legalization lobbyists are saying. Since I was little my parents ingrained weed as a bad drug into my brain, they never actually gave me specifics they were just like, “Drugs are bad and they will ruin your life.” And I was like, “I like my life so I’m going to listen to you” but since then more and more I’m becoming to accept Weed as a potential for legalization. Every study that is done is always talking about how it’s not as bad as they once thought and once the stigma around it goes away and people stop believing that Weed and K-2 Spice are the same drug, it’ll happen. I’m still not going to do it because it still messes with my brain, and I love my brain. But I’ll just sit back and watch as America starts to smell from garbage and pollution to weed, I think that just as nerds won the culture war a long time ago, before I was alive, the stoners are winning the drug war. I feel like it all started with the Gen X. Our parents, or mine anyway. The baby boomers took all the jobs and raised them with Helicopter parenting, which gave them more freedom to do what they wanted, and Gen Xer’s without a job and chilling in college were like fuck it and started smoking weed. While most of them quit that wave had started and because of them we are seeing what we see now. Because of AMerica’s long tradition of importing more than they export we are in massive debt, and weed has the potential to be a multi-billion dollar market per state. Take colorado for example in 2017 their weed market was worth 1.5 billion and they have seen increases in products of 25% in 2015-16 and 16-17, so Imagine that, but nationwide, and they amount of infrastructure you could do, the amount of reformation possible in our schools and prisons, we could start to pay off out so big a number that I can’t keep track of debt. And do it all while the whole nation is thoroughly toasty.
Thank you.
